Later after they had coordinated their search teams it was agreed that instead of sending Applejack to Appleloosa they would send her to Manehattan along with Rarity and Pinkie Pie, while Rainbow Dash went to Appleloosa. While they were away Tom would help around Sweet Apple Acres, and Sarah would help Fluttershy at Carousel Boutique. When Applejack went back to Sweet Apple Acres to pack for the trip and tell Granny Smith and Big Mac what was going on Applejack decided she should show Tom about Apple-bucking.
Applejack: Well Tom if you’re going to help around the farm I might as well show you how we Apples do harvesting around here. By that I mean Apple-bucking.
Tom: Apple-bucking?
Applejack: Eeyup.
Applejack then kicked her back legs on the nearest apple tree causing the apples to fall into the baskets underneath.
Applejack: Why don’t you give it a try Tom?
Tom: You want me to… kick the tree?
Applejack: Kicking, Bucking whatever you want to call it.
Tom Tried to give the tree his attempt at a karate kick, but the only results were a wave of pain running up the length of his leg. As Tom crouched down holding his leg.
Applejack: I’ll admit I wasn’t expecting you to not to be able to apple-buck, but maybe if you practiced more you could get better at it.
Tom: Maybe I should stick to other jobs around the farm.
Applejack: Ok, but that’s really what would help out the most around here. I’m going to go pack my things for Manehattan, you could try giving another kick to apple-bucking.
As Applejack walked off.
Tom: I think the better way to do this is by working smarter, not harder.
Tom then jumped onto a tree branch and climbed into the tree. Within minutes he was picking the apples from the tree and dropping them into the baskets. As Tom climbed down from the tree.
Tom: Now that’s more like it.
Meanwhile at Carousel Boutique Rarity, Sarah and Fluttershy were in Rarity’s sowing room.
Rarity: Now then, the order forms are organized that the first question asks what type of dress the customer is ordering. The answer to that question is in the form of a code I made with my distributed designer catalog, with two letters along with two numbers. For instance RD-05 is the design I used for Rainbow Dash’s dress for the wedding of Princess Cadance and Shining Armor. Second question is a written requested color they want their dress to be made in. this client wants the RD-05 in alternating blue and green with more blue then green.
Fluttershy: Oh, that sounds lovely.
Rarity: After that you simply need to package the dress and send it to the post office. From there it will reach the clients address and payment will be returned within three days of their satisfaction.
Sarah: That sounds easy.
Rarity: As long as you use the design notes on my desk, and the fabrics available you two should be perfectly fine.
Rarity then levitated a saddle bag and placed it on her back.
Rarity: I need to meet up with the others at the train station, but if you could get started on the dress immediately that would make me feel more comfortable about going on this search through Manehattan looking for a creature I’ve never seen before.
Sarah: Thanks for doing this Rarity; do you want me to watch your place while you’re gone?
Rarity: That would be splendid darling; well I must be off then.
Rarity left for the train station leaving Fluttershy and Sarah with the dress order.
Fluttershy: So I’ll take care of the sowing part of the dress if you could get the materials, um if you don’t mind.
Sarah: That’s works for me. Rarity said this dress was supposed to be made with green and blue fabric, is there anything else needed for this dress?
Fluttershy: Well I remember it had an aqua headband with three purple flowers. Then the order mentions the measurements that would be used for the third manikin from the left.
Sarah: I’ll get those.
Sarah then gathered the manikin, fabric and found a blank headband.
Fluttershy: Rarity always keeps her white edge material on the self-closest to the window, and I remember the headband materials are in a box labeled spring accessories.
Sarah: I could do the headband while you sow the dress.
Fluttershy: Um ok, if you’ve seen the design then.
Sarah took a few minutes to look over the headband design while Fluttershy started measuring out the fabric. Once they had the lengths mentioned in Rarity’s dress notes Fluttershy started sowing the material together while Sarah wrapped the accessories around the headband.
Sarah: So how did you guys get to attend a royal wedding anyway?
Fluttershy: Well it all started when Twilight got the invitation from Princess Celestia telling how Rarity would be making the dresses, Applejack would be covering the catering, Pinkie Pie was in charge of the reseption, Rainbow Dash performing a Sonic Rainboom, Twilight overseeing the festivities, and me doing a performance with my song birds. The really big part was that Princess Cadance use to be Twilight’s foalsitter and Shining Armor is her brother.
Sarah: That’s convenient.
Fluttershy: But the problem was Twilight noticed that the Cadance we meet wasn’t acting very nice. Then it turned out that the bride was an impostor who was trying to invade Canterlot.
Sarah: Wow that escalated quickly. So how did you guys stop the invasion?
Fluttershy: We tried to get to the Elements, but there were too many Changelings. So Twilight got Cadance and Shining Armor to be together and their love saved Equestria.
Sarah: …
Fluttershy: Is something wrong Sarah?
Sarah: No I just had this weird feeling but if you could answer a few questions that would help.
Fluttershy: Um, ok.
Sarah: Was the imposter bride the Changeling leader?
Fluttershy: Yes, Queen Chrysalis. She was scary when she made those green flames.
Sarah: Was… Shining Armor at any point under a spell?
Fluttershy: During the wedding he was.
Sarah: Now one final question, what did this Shining Armor do before he married Princess Cadance?
Fluttershy: Well he was the captain of the Royal guards.
Sarah: Well that settles it, that wedding combined several fairy tales of my childhood into one event in this world.
Fluttershy: Um, is that good or bad?
Sarah: Actually I the way you described it, it sounded like a really good adventure.
While at the train station Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Rarity were waiting for their respective trains. Rainbow Dash was trotting in place with anticipation.
Rainbow Dash: AH, it’s bad enough I’m going to be sitting on some train for several hours just to get to Appleloosa but the fact that I have to wait for sitting around, Come on!
Applejack: Easy Rainbow, were all going a long way out to help find Tom and Sarah’s friends. The rest of us are going to Manehattan to look for one of these humans.
Rarity: I don’t know if finding a human in Manehattan is going to be very easy. When Ponyville got the news that a human was on its way they completely closed up. But what would ponies in Manehattan do if they saw a monster in their city?
Pinkie Pie: Oh, what if they caught the human and it was in a zoo or something? We could try busting it out of there and then making a run back to Ponyville. Or the human that got sent to Manehattan is in the sewers and will find him wrestling a cragadile over a carrot-dog. Or the human in Manehattan is-
Applejack: Ok Pinkie, Manehattan is a really big city and were going to have to ask around if anypony has seen something like these humans.
Rarity: Aside from the fact they will look tall, lanky, thin or wide, and have little hair on them what does Kaz and Payton look like?
Everypony was silent for a few minutes realizing that searching for the humans the other day was much easier because they could have always just taken whoever they found to Tom or Sarah to see if they could identify them. Just then Tom came walking up to the train platform.
Tom: Hey every… pony.
Pinkie: Hey it’s Tom, just the human we needed to see.
Tom: Hu?
Applejack: What Pinkie is sayen’ is, Tom could you be willing to tell us more about what your friends look like?
Tom: Oh sure. Kaz is a lot like me only with red hair and wears glasses. Kaz was last seen wearing his regular yellow waistcoat, green pants and shirt. Payton is bigger than me with brown hair and always wears a green goat over his yellow t-shirt.
Rarity: Hmm, the fashion taste sounds very similar to pony casual wear. But of course will be applying it to something that most resembles a…
Pinkie: A mini-minotaur or a hairless bear!
Applejack: Pinkie! I’m terribly sorry Tom Pinkie just tends to-
Tom: It’s Ok Applejack, if I had never seen another human before I guess I would probably compare them to something like that.
Just then a train pulled up to the station. Within a short while the conductor came onto the platform.
Conductor pony: All aboard for Appleloosa!
Rainbow Dash: Well this train is for me. See you guys later, it’s time for human hunting in Appleloosa.
As the train went off to Appleloosa.
Tom: So how far out is this Appleloosa anyways?
Applejack: Pretty far, the last time we went out there it took us all of one day and that night to get there. As for the rest of us were going to Manehattan which is a fair ways away from Ponyville but once we get there we should be able to search the city in at least a day.
Rarity: Applejack were going to the largest city in Equestria to look for something most other ponies would consider as a monster, how do you think we’re going to find this human in one day?
Applejack: We know a few ponies in Manehattan, why I’ve got my Aunt and Uncle Orange and my cousins in the Seed family that could help us.
Pinkie: and what about all the ponies you helped out in Manehattan the last time we went there Rarity?
Rarity: Well I guess I could ask Coco Pommel if she’s seen anything, but other than her would be like trying to find an emerald in a box of saphires.
Tom: Well thanks for doing this for me and my friends you guys.
Pinkie: Anything to get good friends together.
Tom: Oh before you guys go, Applejack your grandmother made you this batch of “apple fritters”.
Applejack: “Apple Fritters”, oh granny knows how to keep a pony goin’.
Tom handed Applejack a small basket filled with apple fritters.
Applejack: Mmm, there’s no better apple fritter then the ones made by Granny Smith. But I better hold onto them sparingly, we might need them for when we meet up with my cousin. Although sense Tom came all this way to help fuel the search party, here ya go Tom.
Applejack scooped up an apple fritter in her hoof and tossed it to Tom who was able to catch it.
Tom: Thanks Applejack.
Applejack: Sure thing Tom, might help fuel you up for applebucking.
Tom then made his way back to Sweet Apple Acres to get back to the farm work he was needed for. Within a short while the train for Manehattan arrived and Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Rarity got onboard the train.
Rarity: I hope that this search works out. Aside from giving them I place to stay I don’t know what else we can do.
Applejack: I’m sure it will work; we just need to keep positive and work as hard as we can.
Pinkie: As pink is my color I will reunite these lost friends!
Applejack: That’s the spirit Pinkie.
The train went off and Applejack, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity were on their way to Manehattan. As Tom got back to Sweet Apple Acres Tom saw Big Mac who had just bucked all the apples from a single tree in one kick.
Tom: Hey Big Mac, sorry for the delay was there any trouble while I was gone?
Big Mac: Nope.
Tom: Ok, I’ll just get back to harvesting then.
Tom went to the nearest tree and climbed up the branches to get to its apples. While Tom was picking the apples of the trees Big Mac was going about bucking the trees and carrying the baskets of apples to the apple cellar. As Tom climbed down from one of the trees he was able to get apples from Tom spotted Big Mac carrying three baskets piled high with apples.
Tom: Need any help carrying that Big Mac?
Big Mac: Nope.
Tom: Are you sure?
Big Mac: Eeyup.
Tom: pony of few words. I’ll just carry in the apples I’ve gotten so far.
Tom carried a basket of some of the apples he picked and followed Big Mac toward the barn. As Big Mac placed the apple baskets down.
Tom: So are these apples going into town to be sold?
Big Mac: Eeyup.
Tom: But you would also keep some of the harvest to eat right?
Big Mac: Eeyup.
Tom: and if I could guess there are a lot more apples to harvest before you would consider the job done.
Big Mac: Eeyup.
Tom: So we should quit wasting time and get back to work.
Big Mac: haha Eeyup.
Tom sighed as he and Big Mac went back out into the apple orchard. Meanwhile Sarah and Fluttershy had finished making the dress Rarity needed them to make while she was away.
Sarah: Nice work Fluttershy.
Fluttershy: Oh, thank you. It’s no big deal really.
Sarah: So where did you learn to sow like this?
Fluttershy: Um… it helps my animal friends.
Sarah: (thinking) This pony is like a cross between Tarzan and Snow White. (Speaking) So now that were done with the dress we should mail it out then.
Fluttershy: Oh yes this dress is going out to Baltimare. I could take care of mailing it, um if you want me to.
Sarah: That’s fine; I’ll just hang here if any other ponies are in need of a dress.
Fluttershy: Um… hang?
Sarah: I stay around here waiting for other ponies.
Fluttershy: Oh alright then.
With that Fluttershy packaged up the dress and went off to the post office. Once Sarah was on her own she sat down on a pill of pillows and reached for the first magazine she could reach from her spot.
Sarah: “Trotting Fashion”, *sigh* I don’t suppose Rarity keeps a book about bugs just lying around
Hours later at the walkway toward Sweet Apple Acres Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle were walking along.
Apple Bloom: You have just got to meet him, he’s really nice.
Scootaloo: That’s great and all but is he really as tall as you say he is.
Apple Bloom: Eeyup.
Sweetie Belle: Come on Apple Bloom, if anything was that big ponies would have seen them right off.
Apple Bloom: Well it might be tall but it definitely has a way of being hard to find.
Scootaloo: I don’t get it.
Apple Bloom: You’ll see.
Further on in the orchard Tom had just tried to carry two baskets at once and was now tired from the load.
Tom: *sign* How much apples does a town of ponies need?
Big Mac: Hmm.
Tom: Oh don’t tell me we have another field of apples to harvest.
Big Mac: Nope.
Tom: Really?
Big Mac: Eeyup.
Tom: Well if it’s alright with you I’m just going to lay here and have a rest.
Big Mac: Eeyup.
Tom Lied down on the ground and Big Mac walked off to do his other chores. Just as Big Mac was gone and Tom had just started to relax in the grass.
Apple Bloom: Howdy Hu-mane Tom.
Tom: (lifting his head) Oh hi Apple Bloom.
Apple Bloom: I want you to meet my friends this is Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle, girls this is the Hu-mane Tom.
Scootaloo: Hey.
Sweetie Belle: Pleased to meet you.
Tom: Glad I could meet you all.
Apple Bloom: So Tom, what are you doing?
Tom: Just lying here after helping with harvesting.
Apple Bloom: What’s the matter are you tired?
Tom: I’ll be honest Trying to Match Big Mac was a problem; I never had to lift that much when I worked for Bodal.
Scootaloo: Who’s Bodal?
Tom: Bodal is a creature in charge of keeping the Overworld Armory organized.
Sweetie Belle: What’s the Overworld?
Tom: Well the Overworld is one of four tribes in Perim. Perim is this other world were creatures that live above ground are known as Overworlders or Mipedians and Underworlders and Danians live underground.
Apple Bloom: So how did you get to this Perim place?
Tom: Well back on earth I would use this… uh password that would allow me to stay in my world while a part of me would go and experience memories of going to Perim.
Sweetie Belle: I don’t get it, why stay in one world and travel to another world at that same time? What could you do in Perim that you couldn’t do in your world?
Tom: Well Perim is home to the creatures found in the Chaotic game. My friends and I go to Perim so that we can find new location, creatures, and other stuff to add to our game. The only reason I could guess for the fact that we both stay on earth and go to Perim is so no one worries about us when were gone.
Scootaloo: So let me get this straight, you and your other Hu-mane friends get to go to another world and have any kind of adventure you want and no one will stop you.
Tom: Well basically yes, but you have to respect Perim and the creatures that call that world home. Perim has a lot of dangerous things that could seriously hurt someone.
Apple Bloom: what kind of stuff would you consider dangerous?
Tom: Well there’s falling into the Lava Pond, caught in the current of The River Lands, or anywhere were you could get stuck in between two creatures fighting one another.
Sweetie Belle: So why are the creatures fighting one another?
Tom: Well it all started a long time ago in Perim’s past were this big magical power was created but one of the tribes wanted it for themselves and the rest fought over it. In the end the magical power was lost and the four tribes have been fighting each other ever sense.
Apple Bloom: Well that’s silly, if none of them know where this thing that got them fighting in the first place is why keep fighting?
Scootaloo: Hey this is just like some of those war games we would play around school, only with more teams.
Tom: Close, just the creatures in Perim take it more seriously than a game. They want to protect their homes.
Sweetie Belle: If the creatures are having a war and you’re going to their war for a game are they happy with you being there?
Tom: Not all creatures like the idea of Chaotic players scanning them. You see when we play in Chaotic we become the creatures we have scanned allowing us to gain their skills and memories.
Scootaloo: If somepony was going to turn into me I guess there would be a few things I wouldn’t want them to know about.
Apple Bloom: Well if I could be anypony else I think I would like to be my sister. She’s strong, brave, caring, and honest.
Sweetie Belle: Oh what if I could be like Twilight or my sister Rarity. They have way better magic, they know a lot of stuff, and if I was sister I would have the same mane as her.
Scootaloo: Yeah well the pony I would want to be is Rainbow Dash the single fastest pony in Equestria.
Tom: Hey you know Rainbow Dash; she gave me a lift into Ponyville after I meet here at Winsome Falls.
Scootaloo: You… and Rainbow Dash… flew together?
Tom: Yeah.
Scootaloo: Awesome!
Sweetie Belle: What was it like to fly?
Tom: (now sitting up) Well I have had times when I’ve flown before, but flying with Rainbow Dash was amazing. The skies here as so cool and calm.
Scootaloo: Wow your already as tall as most ponies.
Apple Bloom: What I tell ya, Hu-manes might be tall but they can hid very well.
Tom: well how about I just get to my feet first and then we can judge how tall I am.
As Tom Stood up Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle were at aw of the human’s size.
Apple Bloom: So, is he taller than Princess Luna?
Sweetie Belle + Scootaloo: Yes.
Sweetie Belle: So what’s it like to be that tall?
Tom: Well come to think of it I never really considered myself taller then normal.
Scootaloo: Being that tall is normal for Hu-manes?
Tom: Well… yes.
Apple Bloom: Well there’s no chance will ever be that big. From the way things are ponies might just guess this is as big as were going to get.
Tom: what make you say that Apple Bloom?
Apple Bloom: Well yeah see most ponies have their cutie mark which is this thing that shows what their talent is and what they should do with their life.
Sweetie Belle: But so far none of us have our cutie marks.
Scootaloo: It wouldn’t be so bad if not having one automatically considered a baby.
The three small fillies felt sad and began to look depressed. Tom then knelt down on one knee to talk to the girls.
Tom: Hey girls, do you remember when I said it was normal for most humans to be as tall as I am?
Apple Bloom: Yeah.
Tom: Well didn’t always start out this tall. When I was a lot younger I was just as tall as you are, but over time I grew and eventually got as tall as I am today. So if ponies are supposed to have these things on there flanks in time you’ll get yours to. You just have to take each day as it is and keep growing.
The three little fillies smiled at Tom’s words understanding that like all things in the world they will grow in time.
Scootaloo: Thanks Tom, sense will probably not get our cutie marks today would you be willing to help with another thing we would like to try just once.
Tom: What’s that?
Apple Bloom: Would you be willing to give us a ride on your back?
Tom: (smiling) Sure.
Tom got down low enough for Apple Bloom to have her back legs on Tom’s shoulders, and Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo leaned across Tom’s shoulders while Tom held a hand on their back. Once they were already Tom got up slowly and stood as tall as he could.
Apple Bloom: Wow.
Sweetie Belle: This is so cool.
Scootaloo: It’s like I’m flying.
Apple Bloom: Could you walk us around a little Tom?
Tom: Only if you say giddy up.
Apple Bloom + Sweetie Belle + Scootaloo: Giddy up!
Tom Walked around carrying the three fillies until they came to a stop at the Apple family farm house. Once Tom set down the three fillies.
Sweetie Belle: That was so fun.
Scootaloo: It was awesome.
Apple Bloom: It was the best thing we ever did.
Tom: Well I’m glad you liked it.
Sweetie Belle: It’s getting late I should probably get home soon.
Scootaloo: Yeah me to, See you at School Apple Bloom.
Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo made their way to their home while Tom and Apple Bloom went inside the farm house just in time for the Apple family dinner.
